Tensor G2

The Tensor G2 is the heart of the Pixel 7 series. The SoC is co-developed with Samsung on a 4nm node in a three-core cluster to bring in minor improvements including power efficiency, better TPU, and the new-generation Titan M2 security chip. The new SoC also brings in the capability to record 10-bit HDR video in the Pixel 7 Series.

Exclusive features and software services.

Along with the Pixel 7 series, you will get tons of features, that include feature drop updates, and some on-launch features that will remain for the lifetime of the device.

You will get Magic Eraser, Photo Unblur, Face Unblur, and Real Tone by default.

Face unlock is considered to be the to-go feature and considered to be the alternative to the fingerprint scanner. However, in Android, Face Unlock was king of hit-and-miss. With the new Pixel 7 series, you get to see face unlock with the front-facing camera, along with the security and power of the ML.

As part of the security, you also get Google VPN for free, which in general costs you $9.99/m along with 2TB of Google Drive storage. However, this is set to “Coming Soon” and will drop in later this year.

Guided Frame is a new feature for people with visual impairment. With Guided Frame, the Pixel camera will tell you how to properly frame yourself for a perfect selfie.

With the introduction of macro photography, people have been craving to bring in the details of tiny objects up close to human eyes. And Google being Google, has introduced a dedicated Macro Focus option in the Pixel Camera App. The feature uses the ultra-wide camera for the macro shots with the capability of auto-focus for an object as close as 30mm and tuning in with the capabilities of HDR in the scene.

Another talk of the show is the Super Res Zoom. Using this, the Pixel 7 is capable to achieve a good quality image even in the highest possible zoom supported. With the Pixel 7, you will get a 2X zoom with high-res details using the main 50MP sensor, which will crop in 2X to get the best shot to a 12.5MP shot. Furthermore, the Pixel 7 Pro gets a 10x image in a 12.5MP photo, combined with the new Zoom Stabilization, you can capture an image at above 15x zoom. The image upscaling then kicks in when you reach 20x zoom.

Thanks to the new Tensor G2, the above features look way too powerful thanks to the new ML algorithms. But wait, this is not the only thing. With the Pixel 7 series, you also get Cinematic Blur. This feature adds a blurred background when recording video, adding to the depth sensation of the video.
