With the underwhelming performance even with the AMD partnership, Samsung might just move with Snapdragon next year. Exynos is being under the radar for a very long time due to its underperformance with its competition – Snapdragon. And the constant failure with the SoC, Samsung might completely drop Exynos for next year’s flagships.
This report comes from Ming-Chi Kuo, who confirms that Qualcomm will be the only supplier for the SoC this time. And this time, Qualcomm has switched to TSMC – which does make some highly efficient fabs, with its 4nm process. It’s worth noting that Samsung’s SoC Division is pathetic in every case – be it Exynos, or manufacturing the SoC for someone else – the heat blunder of Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 SoCs.
Well, this will be a piece of good news for Samsung fans, since next year’s Galaxy S23 series will come with Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 which is better than Samsung Foundry’s 4nm based Snapdragon 8 Gen 1.
Meanwhile, Samsung has gathered a team dedicated to designing a custom silicon for their S25 devices that are set to launch in 2025. This new SoC will be completely different from Exynos as per the claims.
It seems that Samsung Foundry is going to have a hard time with the main shareholders 😂
