Pixel 7 and 7 Pro: First Details outs!

Thanks to 9to5Google, we now have the first few key details about the upcoming Pixel 7 and 7 Pro. These include the codenames that the handsets are assigned to, the Tensor chip used, and their Samsung modem.

Cstark27, a reliable source, discovered that the GS201 chip will include a – as of yet unreleased – Samsung modem with the model number “g5300b.” The Pixel 6’s modem is listed as “g5123b,” which stands for Exynos Modem 5123. We believe Google’s second-generation Tensor chip will have the Exynos Modem 5300, based on the model number, though no details have been released.

There are three additional device codenames associated with the Exynos Modem 5300 in the code, in addition to Cloudripper. “Cheetah” and “Panther” are the two we’ll focus on first. 9to5 These two codenames have been linked to the Pixel 7 and likely Pixel 7 Pro phones that will be released this fall, according to Google. Strong evidence suggests that the Pixel 7 series will be powered by the second-generation Google Tensor GS201 chip, as these devices are said to have the same modem as Cloudripper.

The third codename, Ravenclaw, is believed to be a mashup, with the GS201 chip added to the body of a Pixel 6 Pro – aka Raven – and the “claw” referring to the felines of the Pixel 7 generation.
