An Escape That Can Save Your Life…Someday!

“If life gives you lemons, make lemonade”.  It’s easy!!!!  Right?

Sometimes it isn’t easy.  Sometimes it’s just too much to handle by yourself and you begin to doubt your self-worth.  Life is short and unpredictable but whatever happens, the world does not stop turning. So why should you?

You need a safe haven, and the motivation to step back for a while. This decision to take a step back is a pivotal point in your life.  Why?  Because you cannot escape the physical reality of life but you can escape it mentally.

Do you want to know how?  Let’s delve into this article and see.

Clear Your Mind, Meditate

The art of meditation has been used for centuries. It allows you to enter a tranquil state of mind and temporarily has the ability to suspend you from reality. You don’t need anything to meditate on other than your own room or even your own bed.

There is no special training and no monthly membership. All you need is a peaceful environment, a belief in yourself, the patience to practice, and the will to achieve inner peace.

Journal Your Thoughts

Writing a daily journal has well-documented health benefits. Simply recording the day’s events is a simple way of letting off steam, it’s like talk therapy without the talking. It does not help you escape reality but it assists you in dealing with it and becoming more like your normal self again.

Listen To Music

listening to music

Music can help you deal with your troubles no matter how difficult they seem. Music helps you to relax and reduce worry and fear. If you get absorbed in the melody it will lighten your mood.

Listening to music at low volume in the car or before an important meeting or discussion can be very soothing.  Listening to the music of mother nature can be naturally soothing to your soul.

Read Books Regularly

This is my personal favorite. Reading a book transports you to another universe and gets you away from the stresses of everyday life. Reading comical stories and stories with positive themes assists your escape.

I sometimes have to push myself to take a break. Reading helps me to get that break from an otherwise hectic lifestyle. As I began to make time for reading I realized that many of us have lost our ability to appreciate the simple pleasures in life. It’s the little things that truly count.

Go Out For A Nature Break

Exercise and get away from reality for a while. Get outside and spend time in nature, let your mind absorb all of the wonders of nature, close your eyes, imagine the colors and listen to the sounds, open your eyes, the colors are far more beautiful than you imagined, aren’t they?

If time allows take a holiday and go hiking, fishing even camping. You can even meditate outdoors under the stars and be refreshed in both body and mind.

Become Active- Physically and Mentally

We must keep ourselves active, both physically and mentally. Physical activities can improve your mental wellbeing. And if you are also a parent, you should also teach this to your children.

Take time to do yoga with your family early in the morning. Exercise to keep your body fit and healthy. Take your kids to playgrounds, have a game with them.

If you like games and think they are the best option to be active, then certain games like chess, sudoku, etc., can keep your mind engrossed. And there are games like escape room games, etc., that have the potential to keep you engaged, both mentally and physically.

Not just for elders, escape room games for kids are very popular among kids. You can also book an escape room two people, for you and your partner or a friend. VR arcade games, too, can teleport you to a whole new virtual dimension.

Take out time to utilize your time so that you make the most benefit out of it.

The Key Take Away-

It’s over to you now. It’s vital to take a break from reality, choose what will work best for you and your situation. Clear your mind and re-organize your priorities until you feel like you are you again. I employ all of these techniques at various times, I hope you find my suggestions useful and you find some inner peace.

I would be delighted to receive any feedback so please leave a comment if you feel able to do so.
