Realme has announced the new Realme Google TV stick here in India, which seems to be a perfect competitor with the Google Chromecast in the country. After the Chromecast was rebranded to Google TV, the new device was yet to be announced in the country but is being delayed for some unknown reasons. But Realme has closed that gap with this new Google TV stick.
Realme Google TV – What do you get?
Out of the box, the new Stick will be able to give 4K resolution output. The design is seemed to be inspired by the Fire Stick. It has an HDMI Output which will fit behind your TV, with a micro USB port for power. Realme confirms that the device will have HDMI 2.1 standard supported, thus can output [email protected], with HDR10+ for the compatible TVs. On the inside, there is a Quad-Core SoC, but Realme is being mute on its specifications. For storage, you get 8GB of onboard storage with 2GB of RAM.
The remote of the Realme Google TV is an interesting piece. The design is a custom design, which is not inspired by Google’s reference designs. The design does look good and is the first remote with Youtube Music dedicated button.
But it is yet to be seen how this button actually works since there is no dedicated app for Android TV right now. It might open a YT Music PWA preinstalled in the stick.
Unfortunately, even though Realme has given their 100% with this affordable yet the first Google Stick in the country, we will see only limited features working. In a Google Support document, Google has mentioned that the Google TV stick will work outside supported regions but with limited functionality. This limits the options Home, Apps, and Library active in the unsupported regions.
As for the pricing, the Realme Google TV will cost ₹3,999 in the Indian sub-continent, which is equivalent to $53.10 at the time of writing.
