The 1.7 million square foot St. John’s Terminal in Hudson Square will house certain worldwide sales and partnership teams. It will include a lot of green space and green infrastructure, but Google has promised to offset all of the building’s carbon emissions.
This new store is expected to complement the Google Store at Chelsea including its 111 8th Avenue corporate headquarters and the Google retail store within. With this campus being the largest facility outside of California, Google hopes to boost its employee base from 11,000 to 14,000 people.
Meanwhile, later this year the company plans to invest $250 million in the city to expand its footprint. A mixed-use complex is currently under construction on Pier 57. It will include quick-service restaurants, program space for the Hudson River Park Trust, public space, and some extra offices, among other things. Next year, that area is set to open up.
