Samsung Unpacked is over but we got to see some amazing devices during the event. The star of the show – Galaxy Z Fold 3, is finally announced, and guess what, it has its own S-Pen as well! But you have to buy one for yourself separately after all, but that is a different matter to discuss. This time, we get to see something amazing as well as something disappointing at the same time.
Galaxy Z Fold 3 – specifications.
The Galaxy Z Fold 3 will come with a 7.6-inch Dynamic AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate out of the box. The secondary or the cover display is a 6.2-inch Dynamic AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate. For safety, Samsung has equipped Gorilla Glass Victus on the entire body, other than the main display.
With the main display, Samsung has gone ahead with the Under display camera, which is, to be honest, very disappointing, given that it is just a 4MP sensor. But in addition, you get a 10MP front-facing camera on the outer display.
For the processing power, you get to see Snapdragon 888 SoC, with 12GB of RAM and 128/256 GB of non-expandable UFS 3.1 storage. In the regions, other than the US and China, we will see the Exynos 2100 instead, unfortunately.
And yet again in the camera department, Samsung has disappointed us again. you get to see the old-style triple 12MP camera sensors array. You will get to see a 12MP main camera, with a 12MP telephoto and a 12MP ultra-wide. Moreover, the telephoto didn’t get the autofocus as the rumors said previously. And this exact camera sensor with certain specifications matches what we got with Note 9 in 2018.
For the build, Samsung somehow managed to bring the IP68 water and dust resistance certification on a foldable phone. Moreover, Samsung has introduced a new Armour Aluminum frame which is stronger than the previous generations. And thanks to that, the company has managed to reduce the weight of the smartphone. Another disappointment factor – battery has been reduced to 4,400mAh battery. As for the fast charging, you still get a 25W speed on PD with 11W wireless charging and 4.5W reverse charging, which is more than enough for the battery inside the Galaxy Z Fold 3.
The best – S-Pen Support! Sadly you get two choices this time. And you cannot use any other S-pen for Fold, as it will popup with a message to not use any other S-Pen since it will damage the display. There are two S-Pen variants – S-Pen Fold Edition and S-Pen Pro. The S-Pen Pro comes with a battery and a charging port as well, whereas the Fold Edition doesn’t and is smaller than the Pro variant. The Pro variant, however, will lack Bluetooth support. Even if you buy the Fold Edition, you have to buy a special case for that to hold with the Galaxy Z Fold 3.
There will be three colors available for you to purchase – Phantom Black, Phantom Green, and Phantom Silver. For the pricing, the Galaxy Z Fold 3 will cost around €1,799, with pre-orders currently up. Moreover, you can get a hands-on device starting August 27th when the sale begins.
