With this new update, Google also finalized the API level 31 ahead of the scheduled month. Also, Developers have been advised to check the compatibility of their apps with the new APIs, SDKs and release the compatible versions of the apps for Android 12 given that things are going to remain the same till the stable rollout.

Platform Stability is the time to shift focus to final compatibility testing and release your updated apps to users and downstream developers. You can also build with the final APIs and refine any new code that is using the new APIs or features. You can plan your work with confidence that the platform and APIs won’t change.

The Android 12 Beta 4 also brings the August Security patch for the Pixels. Moreover, the next Beta will not have any number and will be considered to be the Release Candidate version of the OS.

The update is available to download via OTA or you can flash the firmware downloaded directly from Google. For those who want to download the OTA, the download size is 375MB on Pixel 4a.
