WhatsApp Now Allows You To Join Calls Even After They’ve Started

WhatsApp is now making it easier for you to connect to group calls. The new feature will allow users to join an ongoing call. Users can also reconnect to a call after leaving, as long as the call is still in progress.

“Joinable calls reduce the burden of answering a group call as it starts and brings the spontaneity and ease of in-person conversations to group calling on WhatsApp,” said the company on its blog.

If you accidentally tap on the “Ignore” button on a group call invite, you can still join the call from the Calls tab at any time. WhatsApp is also making changes to the call screen. It will now show the list of members that are currently on the call, those invited, and those that are yet to join.

WhatsApp added the group calling feature back in 2018 which has gained a lot of traction in the last year because of the pandemic. The feature will roll out slowly to all users in the coming weeks.
