Instagram is Planning To Add More Video Tools To Make It More Like TikTok

Instagram is all set to test new video features that will push the platform more towards looking like TikTok. The changes were announced by Head of Instagram Adam Mosseri on Wednesday. In a video announcement, Mosseri said that “We’re no longer a photo-sharing app.”

He adds that video-sharing apps are rapidly expanding and Instagram is aiming to lean into that trend as well. Instagram is already testing a lot of other types of in-feed video recommendations and according to Mosseri, more are on the way. Instagram is finally shifting from a traditionally photo-centric platform to a video-centric one with “full-screen, immersive, entertaining, mobile-first video.”

Instagram is going to test a lot of video features in the next 6 to 12 months and the company is going to stay transparent all the way along. Here’s Mosseri’s full announcement –
