The upcoming Galaxy Z Fold 3 is supposed to be in all ways a successor over the last years Galaxy Z Fold 2. This includes a much thinner and lighter design, faster processor, better S-Pen compatibility, and better camera setup. But recent leaks on the camera setup reveal that the camera setup will remain similar to Fold 2.
Camera specification of Galaxy Z Fold 3
Thanks to tipster @FrontTron, we have the full camera specification for the Fold 3. The handset will a Triple 12MP camera on its rear end. As the main camera, the handset has the 12MP Sony IMX555 (1/1.76-inch) sensor with dual-PDAF (phase-detection autofocus). The other two sensors include a 12MP Telephoto camera and a 12MP ultra-wide camera. For the Telephoto lens, Samsung has used its own ISOCELL 3M5 (1/3.6-inch) sensor with a 2x zoom lens and PDAF. Meanwhile, for the Ultra-wides camera, the device uses the ISOCELL 3L6 (1/3.2-inch) sensor with PDAF.
From the looks of it, the autofocus mechanism on the ultrawide camera should provide crisper shots. It also enhances the sensor’s ability to function as a macro camera. But Samsung most definitely could have benefited from a superior telephoto camera.
While the Galaxy Z Fold 3’s ultrawide camera is comparable to that of the Galaxy S21 Ultra, however, the Galaxy Z Fold 3’s sensor is smaller. Regardless, autofocus will almost certainly increase the image and video quality.
Coming to the front end, Fold 3 comes will a 10MP Sony IMX374 (1/3.2-inch) camera on the cover display. Meanwhile, hidden just below the foldable Display, the handset has a 16MP Sony IMX471( 1/3.09-inch) under-display camera.
