Reliance Jio, a telecom service provider in India has announced their first smartphone – JioPhone Next. The JioPhone Next is result of the collaboration between Jio and Google to bring masses using 2G to 4G network, for a very cheap price.
At the event, because of Covid-19, Sundar Pichai wasn’t able to attend the event so we got to see a pre-recorded clip about how the software on the device is carefully developed by Google for the Indian market. This device will likely ship with Android Go. As per Pichai, a special team at Mountain Valley has optimized the particular version of Android Go for JioPhone Next. You will get to see Android updates, as well as, hold your breath – Feature Drop as well!
For the hardware, we don’t know what Jio has placed inside the device. As per Mukesh Ambani, CEO of Reliance Jio, the device will be made available for purchase starting September 10 this year.
