Snapdragon 888 made a huge impact in the mobile phone industry as being the first SoC developed using the 5nm process. However, this is just the beginning as Qualcomm has started working on the successor of the SoC, which will be developed with 4nm process and will feature a faster modem.
Snapdragon 888 successor will be better than the previous generation.
Leaker Evans Blass shares the details of the upcoming successor to the SoC. According to his information, the SoC will be fabricated on a 4nm process and will feature an X65 Modem-RF system. Other than that, the SoC will come with Kryo 780 CPU made over ARM Cortex v9 architecture. For GPU you will get Adreno 730, Spectra 680 for ISP, 1GHz downlink on mm-Wave, whereas 400MHz on the sub-6GHz band.
The SoC will also support new Qualcomm WCD9380/WCD9385 audio codec, and also a secure processing unit SPU260. In terms of RAM, you will get to see the support for quad-channel package-on-package LPDDR5X RAM. For videos, Qualcomm will use Adreno 665 VPU. For controlling the display we will get to see Adreno 1195 DPU.
The model number of the SoC is SD8450 and the newest X65 modem will support a theoretical speed of 10Gbps, instead of 7.5Gbps on the Snapdragon 888 SoC’s X60 modem.
