The Asus ROG Phone 5 is now available in the United States for $999.99 through the company’s official website. It’s Asus’ latest high-end gaming phone, complete with a Snapdragon 888 Plus processor, 144Hz display, front-facing speakers, and a massive 6,000mAh battery.
The ROG Phone 5 features a 6.78-inch FHD+ AMOLED display with a 144Hz refresh rate and a 300Hz touch sampling rate, as well as a 144Hz refresh rate. It has a Snapdragon 888 chipset with a 5nm process, 16GB of LPDDR5 RAM, and 256GB of UFS 3.1 storage.
Because the ROG Phone 5 is aimed at gamers, its camera performance isn’t quite as good as the top Android phones. A triple-lens camera system with a 64MP Sony IMX686 primary sensor is featured on the phone. It also has a 24MP front-facing camera, a 6,000mAh battery with 65W rapid charging, ultrasonic AirTriggers, Wi-Fi 6 compatibility, and twin front-facing stereo speakers tuned by Dirac.
The ROG Phone 5 is already a niche product, appealing to those who prefer smartphone gaming over picking up a Nintendo Switch, but the $1,000 price tag may deter some potential consumers — especially because the same processor and graphics can be found in phones for $700. Unfortunately, the AeroActive Cooler 5 accessory does not appear to be included in the purchase price, so you’ll have to pay an extra $69.99.
The ROG Kunai 3 gamepad is also available separately for $149.99 (now discounted to $134.99), but it can be purchased in a bundle with the ROG Phone 5 for $1,039.99.
