Clubhouse, the audio-based social media platform that brought a new format for other social media to follow, is finally coming to Android. The application was previous on iOS only, that too on an invite-only basis. The current beta update is limited to US users only and is also invite-only, just like on iOS.
The app saw its greatest downloads in February, which was around 9.5 million downloads but dipped to about 2.7 million in March and fell to just 900,000 in April, according to the analytics firm Sensor Tower. Clubhouse hopes that launching the Android version will hopefully increase the engagement on the platform.
Clubhouse says that it plans to gradually expand to even more English-speaking countries in the world. “Our plan over the next few weeks is to collect feedback from the community, fix any issues we see, and work to add a few final features like payments and club creation before rolling it out more broadly,” the company said. If you live outside the US, you can pre-register for access on the Clubhouse page in the Google Play store.
