iPhone 13 Might Get Finally Get 120 Hz, thanks to Samsung

Due to the pandemic, there were shortage of adequate supplies for ProMotion high refresh rate displays. Because of this, the iPhone 12 had to manage with a 60 Hz display that we have seen on previous iPhones as well. Now, Samsung Electro-Mechanics is reported to be the supplier for rigid-flexible printed circuit boards (RFPCB) for the iPhone 13, according to TheElec.

“For Apple and Samsung Display, which supplies OLED panels to Cupertino, it is more convenient to continue procuring RFPCB from Samsung Electro-Mechanics and Bhflex, another Korean RFPCB maker, for the upcoming iPhone.“

The website also reports that these new boards will be seen on the two higher end variants, most probably the iPhone 13 Pro and the iPhone 13 Pro Max, and will be the ones getting the higher refresh rate. For the lower models, Apple will use multiplex FPCB.

There is also another South Korean PCB maker called Youngpoong Electronics that is expected to supply RFPCB to Apple through Samsung Display.
