Qualcomm is in works to update its best processor yet again. Not exactly a full generation update, the company is making slight upgrades to the flagship SoC. The Snapdragon 888 Pro will have its prime Cortex X1 Core being clocked a little higher than the current 2.84GHz, with other cores remaining unchanged.
Snapdragon 8xx series has been seeing such incremental updates previously as well. In the past, they would be called the “Plus” variant so seeing a “Pro” version this time could also hint towards more improvements. The news was leaked from a source in China. According to them, Snapdragon 888 Pro will make its debut on phones launched in Q3 of this year.
The source also added that the Snapdragon 888 chipset has been facing heating issues and that the company needs to be careful with the overclocking since it would add up to the heat even more.
