Foldable phones looks cool. But they have their own caveats. Most important are the foldable display and the the water resistant. However, this time, the Galaxy Z Fold 3 and the Z Flip will come with IP certification out of the box. There is a reason why we need an IP rating on such devices – cost of these super premium smartphones. Once liquid enters, your $1500+ device will end up having the costly part replacement for sure, or in the worst case, end up being dead.
Rumor on Galaxy Z Fold 3, and Z Flip 3 – how much of it will be true?
An anonymous source tipped Sammobile about the upcoming IP rating on the next-gen foldable smartphone. IP protection guarantees users that their phones can survive a sudden splash of water or a sudden drop in a pool. As per the rumors, we might see some IP certifications.
But the thing is which one? Highest possible seen on the smartphone is IP68. ‘6’ here is the highest level of dust protection and the ‘8’ is the highest water protection. But possibilities of getting IP54 certified are high, since they cost less than the IP68. But Samsung is Samsung. They can bring the IP68 on the table and let the devices cost less, and/or IP54 protection with high price.
The phones are expected to launch in Jun-July or in August as usual.
