The Black Shark 4 and Black Shark 4 Pro are the newest gaming smartphones from Xiaomi’s gaming division, Black Shark. The phones have a lot in common, except for the chipset and camera, but they both seem capable gaming devices.
Black Shark 4 Pro
The Snapdragon 888 SoC is combined with LPDDR5 RAM and UFS 3.1 storage in the Black Shark 4 Pro. Samsung’s 6.67-inch FHD+ E4 AMOLED display is featured on the phone. It has a refresh rate of 144Hz and a touch sampling rate of 720Hz. The software is powered by JOYUI 12.5, which is based on Android 11.
The Black Shark 4 Pro comes with a 4,500 mAh battery that supports 120W fast charging. The new charging technology, according to Xiaomi, will charge the 4,500 mAh battery in less than 15 minutes. The Black Shark 4 Pro features a 64-megapixel main sensor, an 8-megapixel ultrawide lens, and a 5-megapixel macro lens. The hole-punch cutout on the front houses a 20 MP selfie camera.
The base 6GB/128GB variant of the Black Shark 4 costs CNY 2,499 (roughly Rs 27,850). There are also 8GB/128GB and 12GB/128GB versions, which cost CNY 2,699 (roughly Rs 30,050) and CNY 2,999 (roughly Rs 33,400), respectively.
Black Shark 4
The Black Shark 4 is very similar to its ‘Pro’ equivalent. The two key discrepancies are a Snapdragon 870 SoC and a 48 MP primary sensor instead of the Black Shark 4 Pro’s 64 MP shooter. The RAMDISK feature and the two-layer cooling system are also absent from the standard Black Shark 4.
Pressure-sensitive shoulder keys are available on both the Black Shark 4 and Black Shark 4 Pro. The fingerprint reader has been relocated to the center and now serves as a home button. The volume rocker has been moved to the device’s left hand. Finally, a 3.5mm headphone jack and a dual-speaker setup are included. There’s no news about whether the Black Shark 4 series will be available outside of China.
The base 8GB/256GB variant of the Black Shark 4 Pro costs CNY 3,999 (roughly Rs 44,500). A 12GB/256GB and 16GB/512GB model is also available for CNY 4,499 (roughly Rs 50,100) and CNY 5,299 (roughly Rs 59,000), respectively.
