OnePlus co-founder Carl Pei’s new tech company, Nothing just unveiled Concept 1. It’s the new design for its upcoming true wireless earbuds which is to release this summer. The design was made by the company’s head of design, Tom Howard, who also serves as vice head of design at Nothing’s partner Teenage Engineering.
While Concept1 is just a teaser, the actual earphones might not look like this teaser. The spokesperson from Nothing said, “While the same design principles will be followed and there will be similarities to Concept 1, the end product will look different.”
Nothing also tells The Verge that this Concep1 design showcases what the earbuds might look like with certain key elements. The earbuds won’t include any branding and will use transparent materials. The company also reveals that the inspiration for the design comes from “a grandmother’s tobacco pipe.” Concept1 represents the company’s overall design philosophy, rather than a specific product.
“These are the principles that have guided our product design over the past several months,” says Nothing. “We look forward to showing you how this comes to life through our first products this summer.”
