Google is updating some of its major apps on Android. The updates are essential for security, accessibility, and other features as well. The six apps that are getting the update are – Google Maps, Messages, TalkBack, Password Checkup, Google Assistant, and Android Auto.
Google Maps already had Dark Mode, but it would usually be enabled only after you started navigating towards the destination. After the update, the dark mode will show up across all sections of Google Maps after you pick up the dark theme by heading to Settings > Theme and pick Always In Dark Theme.
Scheduling Messages

Once the Messages app has been updated, you can type a message like you would do normally and then long press the Send button to schedule your messages to a later time.
Better Accessibility with TalkBack
TalkBack, Google’s screen reader app, is now more intuitive, flexible, and responsive. It now has more voice and gesture controls, a unified menu, a new reading control menu that allows you to customize gestures, and more.
Password Checkup for better Privacy
Password Checkup will check whether or not your passwords have been compromised. If you use Google Chrome’s autofill feature, it will scan your password with a publicly available list of leaks. If found in a data breach, it will then notify you to change your password.
Interact with Google Assistant while your Device is Locked

The update will now allow users to interact with the Google Assistant even when the screen is locked. It will show bigger than average size cards which will be easier to read when you’re not so close to your phone. You can turn this feature on by heading over to Settings > Google Assistant and tapping on Lock Screen Personal Results.
Android Auto – Cool Wallpapers and Shortcuts

Apart from really cool wallpapers, the update to Android Auto will also bring some really functional features like shortcuts to your contacts, Google Assistant, weather, and more. Cars having a wider touchscreen area can also use the Split Screen feature to use Android Auto alongside Google Maps and media controls. You can also play games if the ride is too long and you are getting bored!
These were the Spring update to some of the most important Android apps. Users should be able to see these in the coming days or weeks.
