Google purposefully stopped using the dessert name for their Android versions started Android 11. However, internally, they are using this naming approach somehow. But the recent development branch gives us a hint about which dessert will represent Android 12.
Android 12 – new dessert in the source code.
However, the chances of seeing the dessert name again is quite low, given that Google already announced that they will just using Android <number> instead of the dessert name. Internally they still use it as a codename for the branch.
Last year, Google did show the dessert name via an AR implementation of Red velvet Cake, or rvc, and the image of the cake as well. This time as well, we might see the same thing. This time, the development branch suggest a name ‘Snow Cone’. We might see an AR image of the same after first Developer Preview.
The Android 12 might be announced soon in March along with the first Developer Preview rolled out for existing Pixels, starting from Pixel 3.
