A new report suggests that Apple is working with Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC) on advanced Micro OLED displays. The new displays are being made specifically for AR devices, perhaps the long rumored Apple Glass.
The displays are said to be radically different and integrated directly into the chip wafer. This makes them extremely thin to use on something transparent like glass. The development of these chips are happening in secrecy in Taiwan, the report further says.
It also says that the Cupertino company is also actively hiring experts in display technologies and OLED packaging for work on its technologies. There’s a very strict non disclosure agreement put on new hires to withhold the details of the project.
