The hype of Apple Car is not dead yet as recent reports have once again put the limelight back onto the stage. According to a report by Korea Economic Daily, Apple and Hyundai are in talks of negotiating a deal that could make the Apple Car see the light of the day.
The project has passed an internal review by Hyundai Motor Group although awaits further orders from chairman Chung Eui-son. Hyundai will not only manufacture cars but also play an important role in the development process of the custom battery. These operations will be handed off to Hyundai or Kia factories in the U.S., according to the source.
A report by Bloomberg also cited that Apple is planning to release a self-driving car. Although, it would make more sense if Apple decides to make its self-driving software available to already established manufacturers.
Hyundai has confirmed that the company is discussing future prospects of the Apple Car. “We understand that Apple is in discussion with a variety of global automakers, including Hyundai Motor. As the discussion is at its early stage, nothing has been decided,” the company said.
