Based on previous rumors and reports, we had earlier reported that Apple Car is way ahead of its schedule and might be announced as soon as next year. Turns out, that isn’t happening anytime soon. According to Ming-Chi Kuo, an Apple Car launch is unlikely to happen until 2025-2027 at its earliest.
Here’s an excerpt from Kuo’s research note obtained by MacRumors –
We predicted in a previous report that Apple will launch Apple Car in 2023–2025 (“Services, AR, and Apple Car will create Apple’s next trillion-dollar market cap” [August 14, 2018]). However, our latest survey indicates that the current development schedule of Apple Car is not clear, and if development starts this year and everything goes well, it will be launched in 2025–2027 at the earliest. Due to changes in the EV/self-driving market and Apple’s high-quality standards, we would not be surprised if Apple Car’s launch schedule is postponed to 2028 or later.
Kuo’s reports have a reputation to be accurate and we agree what he has to say. Also, we think Apple might not fully manufacture a car itself, rather an autonomous system that will work hand-in-hand with other existing automobile manufacturers. Nevertheless, the future is exciting.
