Reports OLED researchers from UBI Research confirm that Samsung will be launching 3 new foldable smartphones in 2021. Looks like Samsung is shifting its focus from the Galaxy Note series to a new era of Foldables.
According to the reports, the three foldable smartphones will include Galaxy Z Flip 2, Z Fold 3, and Z Fold Lite. Samsung Display has been preparing three types of foldable OLED panels for these smartphones. All three handsets will also use ultra-thin glass as cover windows.
The Galaxy Z Flip 2 will have a 6.7-inch internal foldable display with a 3-inch external screen. The display won’t change much in design though, as per the reports.

Meanwhile, the Galaxy Z Fold 3 will come with 7-inch foldable internal display and a 4-inch external screen. The Lite variant will also come with pretty much the same screen size.
The Z Fold 3 will come withe the S-Pen support. For the stylus support, Samsung Display has been researching on ultra-thin glasses with thickness of 60 or 100 micrometers. This is because anything thinner than 60 micrometers is too thin to withstand pressure from the stylus. But anything thicker than 60 micrometers is less flexible for a foldable handset. So Samsung Display isworking with LPKF of Germany to make the area of the screen that is folded more flexible.
