With the selling off of Honor from Huawei, we will see some major changes in the Honor handsets too. The leakster Digital Chat Station reports that the upcoming Honor V40 will no longer be carrying the Kirin 9000 chipset.
The predecessor of the V40, Honor V30, and V30 Pro carries the Kirin 990 chipset. This chipset was considered HiSilicon’s top chips of 2019. If Honor wasn’t sold off, the handset would still carry HiSilicon’s 2020 flagship chipset.
In addition, the trade war between the US/China has effectively blocked TSMC from fabbing chips for Huawei. Instead, Honour is likely to use MediaTek’s Dimensity 1000+ chipset.
Meanwhile, some sources suggest that the V40 series will have a similar camera design to that of the Nova8. If rumors are indeed true, the Honor V40 is most likely to launch in mid-December. We still don’t know if this handset with come the HarmonyOS, or will the OS change like the chipset.
