WhatsApp began testing its payments service in India, back in 2018. Started early with 1 million users, in early 2018. Now finally started to expand their services all over India.
National Payments Corporation of India(NPCI), which is the main body of UPI payments in India. Said they granted, permission to roll out UPI payments in India. Like Google and Samsung, many other payment apps, WhatsApp also started their UPI payments. NPCI said WhatsApp had around 400 million user base in India, and now they can roll out UPI payments service to 20 million users.
WhatsApp UPI payments now will be able to 20 million users, but they can extend their service to more users.
