Last year, Apple launched its AirPods Pro with its iPhone 11 lineup. And this is about the same time when most of the people will have their AirPods Pro getting out of warranty. But gadgets might get faulty just a day after a whole year of free warranty. Apple has launched a repair program for a whole new year, replacing the AirPods Pro for free for those who have a faulty noise cancelation, or has a cracking or static sound.
This can be a free repair or a complete free replacement depending on what is defective. Here is what Apple specifies:
Crackling or static sounds that increase in loud environments, with exercise, or while talking on the phone
Active Noise Cancellation not working as expected, such as a loss of bass sound, or an increase in background sounds, such as street or airplane noise
Apple clarifies that a small percentage of the AirPods are facing this issue right now. The affected units were manufactured before October 2020. Apple also commits on repairing the Pods for next two years after your purchase.
