Samsung is pushing security update to the Galaxy S7, edge

In what might seem quite surprising in the Android world, Samsung is providing September 2020 security patch update to the Galaxy S7 and the Galaxy S7 edge. Samsung is upping its game with these devices from 2016 getting the September security patch.

The updates are currently rolling out to these devices in the UK and Canada. The download size is 70 MB and the firmware versions are G930W8VLS8CTI1 or G935W8VLS8CTI1 for S7 and S7 edge respectively. In addition to the security patch, the update also improves device stability, fixes some bugs, and improves performance.

To manually check for the update on your Galaxy S7/edge, go to Settings » Software update and tapping Download and install on the phone.
