After the pandemic, more people are hitting the roads with bicycles than ever after. There is a surge in demand for features that will be helpful for bike riders. Google says that the requests have grown 69% and it is finally adding biker friendly navigation modes and other features on Google Maps.
Google is using AI algorithms, crowdsourced data, and data collected with the local municipalities to deliver the features. You can use Google Maps for directions in bicycle lanes or bike-friendly areas. Google also plans to integrate bike rental services inside Maps to offer last-mile connectivity.
