WhatsApp is planning to include facial recognition as a way to unlock the app on Android. A teardown from WABetaInfo has revealed this plan. The screenshot below shows how the “Fingerprint Unlock” setting will be changed to “Biometric Unlock” after the feature rolls out.

Other than Face Unlock, WhatsApp will also let users join a missed group call, as long as the call is still running. WhatsApp also plans to add new features to its desktop app. WhatsApp can be opened using FaceID and TouchID on iOS already. It is nice to see Android phones finally getting this feature.
