Netflix has been working quite hard recently to acquire more users in India. It also introduced a Mobile+ plan that would let mobile phone users watch Netflix for just ₹200 a month. This time, Netflix is planning to let users stream its entire content for free, for a weekend.
But we also seek to innovate and come up with what are new ways that we can use to introduce Netflix to new members. And so an idea that we’re excited about, and we’ll see how it goes, but we think that giving everyone in a country access to Netflix for free for a weekend could be a great way to expose a bunch of new people to the amazing stories that we have, the service, how the service works, really create an event and hopefully get a bunch of those folks to sign up. So we’re going to try that in India, and we’ll see how that goes.Netflix CEO and COO Greg Peters
The news comes days after Stream Fest was found in the Netflix app’s code on Android. As of now, we have no idea when this feature will be rolling out. But this is going to happen very soon.
