G Suite is now Google Workspace! For starters, G Suite was a set of online productivity tools and services for businesses and individuals. This included Gmail, Drive, Docs, and Meet, and a lot of other things as well.
Google now has given a new name and also introduced a set of new logos for its productivity suite – Google Workspace.
The news as announced by Javier Soltero, Google’s VP and GM for Google Workspace.
“By selecting Google Workspace, we get the brand association with Google, which is really important to us,” he said. “These products are flagship products for Google itself — and the ability to actually describe the product in the same way, whether it’s to a buyer or to a user.” Google, he added, wants its customers to see Workspace as a product that brings together all the tools they need to get their work done.
Google is also integrating everything together, pretty much like Microsoft 365. Currently, Gmail is the place where you can access everything. There are also a bunch of new features like the ability to create and collaborate on documents with guests in Chat rooms and to preview linked files in Docs, Sheets, and Slides without having to open them in a new tab.
Google now has a straight competing product for Microsoft’s Office and we will see if this impacts the market share in the near future or not.
