Samsung finally announced the Galaxy Z Fold 2 on the Unpacked Part 2 event held online today. We got a glimpse of the same a few days back in Unpacked Part 1 alongside Note 20 series. As of now, the foldable phone is already up for pre-orders.
Galaxy Z Fold 2 – Specifications.
The Z Fold 2 comes with the 7.6-inch Super AMOLED display with an 120Hz of Adaptive Refresh rate. Inside, you will get a Snapdragon 865+ SoC, 12GB RAM, and 256GB/512GB UFS 3.1 storage. The cover display is a massive 6.2-inch diagnolly, limited to 60Hz.
For security, the power button is the fingerprint scanner. Also, we will see stereo speakers, WiFi 6, Bluetooth 5.0, NFC, and USB Type-C, but no headphone jack. The battery on the Z Fold 2 is a not-so-massive 4,500mAh battery with support for 25W fast charging.
The camera this time is a triple camera module, which looks just like what we have seen on Note 20 series. However, the specs are totally different from the Note series.
The main camera is a 12MP wide-angle camera with aperture of f/1.8, along with 83° FOV, Super Speed Dual Pixel Autofocus, and OIS. Then comes the 12MP ultra-wide camera with a f/2.2 aperture and 123° field of view. The third camera is a telephoto camera with 12MP sensor, 45° FOV, OIS and PDAF. The camera setup is capable of recording HDR10+ videos with 2X optical and 10X digital zoom.
There are two front cameras and are identically 10MP sensor with an aperture f/2.2 and 80° FOV. The one camera is embedded into the Infinity-O panel, whereas the other one resides beneath the cover display. For SIM cards, you have one physical SIM slot and one eSIM.
Galaxy Z Fold 2 – Price & Availability.
The Galaxy Z Fold 2 is available for pre-order starting today itself. It will be available for most of the markets as of now. The main colors will be Mystic Bronze and Mystic Black. Alongside this, you can customize the Hideaway Hinge as well. This feature/option is available in selected 21 markets only. The Hideaway color options are Metallic Silver, Metallic Gold, Metallic Red, Metallic Blue.
For normal sale, the device will be available starting September 18, 2020 for a price of $1,999. On the other hand, the Thom Browne Edition will cost you a freaking $3,299. Inside the Thom Browne Edition box, you get a custom Galaxy Buds+ and a custom Galaxy Watch 3 as well, which adds a freaking $1,299 to the pricey Galaxy Z Fold 2 already.
