Earlier this week Google announced various developments in its TV, Auto, and Chrome OS. And today Google has shifted their attention to its wearable platform. The Wear OS will receive an OTA update by this fall along with a new weather app.
According to the announcement, the update will bring about an overall improvement in the performance, power, and other fundamentals of the wearable platform. Improvement in the CPU core will increase the speed of app startup by 20%.
Qualcomm launched the Snapdragon Wear 4100 and 4100+ this July. This will not only effectively reduce the size from 28nm to 12nm but also possibly make the CPU performance 85% faster. Mobvoi will launch the first watch running on the new chipset later this year.
While Google is also making provisions to run the chipset. The Wear OS OTA update coming this fall will run on the Snapdragon Wear 3100 chipsets.
The new update will also make the pairing process simpler. In addition with this update, you will be able to access your info faster. And as Google announced, “You’ll see improvements to our SysUI for more intuitive controls for managing different watch modes and workouts”

Google has also been working on a new weather “experience”. This app displays the weather conditions in larger icons. It will also display the temperature readings and your location in a larger font size too. This new app is already in its testing phase and will soon be officially launched later this year.
