Samsung has recently announced that it will provide 3 major updates to smartphones. This happened during the unpacked event held on August 5th. However, they didn’t announce which devices will get the updates for 3 years. But it seems that Galaxy A will get these updates in the coming days.
Initially, Samsung will only provide the 3-year updates to flagships starting the Galaxy S10 series and beyond. But now, it seems that they are giving their more to this. In a recent community post, a Samsung customer representative from South Korea has mentioned that the 3-years update policy might get applied to Galaxy A series.
As of now, Samsung is still deciding on if they would go with 3 years update or not. Also there are several smartphones under Samsung, that they have to consider so as to give maximum customers the new OS experience for longer period of time.
But we can consider this change might take place before the end of 2020 at the very least. But do note, it is possible that Samsung might consider smartphones launched in 2019 eligible for the 3-year update policies.
