Here is Google’s new Android TV Dongle and User Interface

Android TV, Google

We heard reports early in May that Google was planning to carry out a full overhaul of the Android TV user interface ( UI), and lower hardware specifications for OEMs to compete better with Roku. Google was trying to make the UI more conducive to discoverability for movies and television shows, according to previous reports.

According to XDA Developers, Google’s latest Android TV app, built under the codename Sabrina, takes the form of a dongle that plugs into the back of your TV. And contrary to previous Chromecast products that depend solely on a managed smartphone, the latest Android TV dongle from Google will actually come with a physical remote control.

The Remote Control resembles the Daydream View’s remote. Up is a circular D-pad, while underneath are six circular buttons. We see a back, Assistant, house, star / favorite, play / pause, and mute volume from today’s leak.

It is also reported that Android TV might be rebranded to Google TV with a new UI. In the image above, the home-screen starts with a top bar where search is the top-left corner. This is followed by For you, Movies, TV, Apps, and My Library. It’s rather similar to the current layout of the Play Store on Android TV.
