WhatsApp has started rolling out a small update for the Beta channel which brings a simple yet handy feature on the app. This new update brings the QR Code feature, which will let you add users using their QR Code.
The update comes via a server-side push on the Beta app having the version 2.20.171. The feature was under development for quite some time now already. The update first rolled out for Apple TestFlight, the previous day, and by today, it came to Android.
The use is simple, Go to Chat > Tap on New Contact > Now share your QR Code or scan someone else’s code. WhatsApp will them into your contacts. You can even reset your QR code to protect it from unknown users!
The update is right now rolling out on the WhatsApp Beta channel and is available starting v2.20.171. If you didn’t get the update, you will get it on the Beta channel gradually.
