After a brief leak of the Motorola Edge Plus, Motorola finally launched the device today. This marks the re-entry of Moto into the flagship world. Motorola brings the Edge Plus and its younger sibling Edge alongside today. Let’s dive deep to see what both the smartphones providing.
Motorola Edge Plus
The Motorola Edge Plus is the ultimate flagship from Motorola. The smartphone features a massive 6.7-inch FHD+ OLED display, along with a refresh rate of 90Hz. The Edge Plus features 12GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage. For power, the smartphone features Snapdragon 865SoC, which also brings 5G onboard. The device features the new mmWave 5G band. This is interesting as the smartphone also features a headphone jack. Along with that, you will get a massive 5,000 mAh battery.

Motorola has focused hugely on the screen. The screen have curved sides, just like we used to see on the Galaxy smartphones till S9. Moto claims to have a 90° curve on the display.
Moto is trying to use the edges more innovatively. For example, the current Edge Plus’s edges light up on receiving a notification, or swipe to bring the virtual navigation when playing a game.
On the back side, there is another major focus. The Edge Plus comes with a massive 108MP camera sensor, which captures quad-pixels with 27MP shots by default. Although you can capture a full 108MP photo, but that is not recommended, as it can take a way too much space on the device.
The main camera has OIS inbuilt. The second camera is an 8MP telephoto camera with OIS, accompanied by a 16MP ultra-wide camera, which also features close-up macro shots and a ToF sensor. On the front, under the punch-hole, you will get a 25MP camera.
Edge – the younger one.
With the massive flagship, Moto also brought a slightly less powerful smartphone, the Edge. In comparison to the the Edge Plus, this smartphone packs, other than the same 6.7-inch “Edge-style Display”, it packs a Snapdragon 765 SoC.
Alongside this, you get only 4GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. A slightly smaller 4,500mAh is present to power you the whole day. For the camera, you get only a 64MP camera, with an 8MP telephoto camera, which does not have the OIS and a 16MP ultra-wide camera along with the ToF sensor.
However, if you want to purchase the Edge Plus, you will only get the smartphone on the Verizon network. But on the other hand, the normal Edge will be widely available for purchase. Although Edge Plus has support for both sub-6GHz and mmWave 5G band, the normal edge will only have the sub-6GHz band.
The smartphones will be available for puchase starting this summer. The pricing of the Edge Plus is around $999 and will be available with Verizon only, starting 14th of May. It will be followed by the Edge whose release date and pricing aren’t out yet.
