The company revealed today that Motorola plans to make its biggest flagship phone launch in years on April 22. The event will, of course, be literally taking place. The company announced today with a tweet the date and time and it is expected to follow up with specifics as the event draws nearer. The company is scheduled to launch 2 devices under the new branding of Edge.

The Edge Plus, based on a recent XDA-Developers post, is expected to feature a Snapdragon 865 processor, 8 or 12 GB RAM, and a 5,000mAh battery. The handset is expected to have two more cameras alongside the 108-megapixel sensor seen at the rear of the phone: a 16-megapixel wide-angle camera and an 8-megapixel telephoto camera. Further pictures of the gadgets leaked last week, revealing a front-facing hole-punch camera and a 3.5 mm headphone jack. A cheaper Edge model is also planned, which could feature less powerful hardware and a main 64-megapixel sensor.
It’ll be exciting to see what’s in store for Motorola, but it’s hard to imagine a premium smartphone launched in 2020 without a 5 G option at the very least.
Following the 22 April event, we will have more details.
