A large part of the world is still coming to terms and fighting with the coronavirus pandemic. Individuals, companies are doing — or at least offering to — what they can do help on a small and large scale. Tesla CEO Elon Musk recently tweeted that his two companies — SpaceX and Tesla — have the capacity to make ventilators.
SpaceX makes spacecraft with life support systems. Ventilators are not difficult, but cannot be produced instantly. Which hospitals have these shortages you speak of right now?”
New York, which has been impacted badly by the coronavirus, has knocked on Musk’s door via its mayor. The city’s mayor Bill de Blasio replied to Musk’s tweet and said that they are reaching out directly to him. The mayor tweeted, “New York City is buying! Our country is facing a drastic shortage.
Musk so far — at least on Twitter — hasn’t responded to New York’s mayor. However, he did reply to a tweet on the matter and had this to say. “We’re working on ventilators, even though I think there will not be a shortage by the time we can make enough to matter.”
Musk’s views have changed drastically. Almost a week or so back, he had tweeted that the panic over coronavirus was dumb and faced a lot of criticism over his views. Three days back, he posted a tweet, which included a research paper highlighting the use of drug that could cure the coronavirus.
