Today we look at the Apple AirPods ‘ newest and most convincing clone yet–though Honor would never say that much. These are the Honor Magic Earbuds. This company is associated with Chinese-based Huawei and is renowned for making very good-looking products which cost less than the competition around it.
The Magic Earbuds come in colours such as: Purple, White and Robin Egg Blue and feature a 10 mm driver and Bluetooth 5. The Magic Earbuds weighs just 5.4 g and comes with a 37 mAh battery which Honor says should be enough to make three hours of calls or three and a half hours of continuous music playback available. Combined with the charging case, which takes about 1.5 hours to charge over USB-C, the Magic Earbuds expect to last at a single charge for about 12 hours of calls and 13 hours of music.
While the Magic Earbuds are compatible with most Bluetooth 5-supporting devices, EMUI 10 phones benefit from instant pairing and playing or pausing music depending on the wear status.
The earphones also support touch controls like double-tapping which can be configured in the AI Life app. While a full assessment of the Honor Magic Earbuds is in order, in our limited with the Magic Earbuds, we definitely felt these earphones lack bass and are heavier on the treble. While the active noise cancellation appears to be strong, while streaming a few YouTube videos, we noticed some audio lag over Bluetooth.
The Honor Magic Earbuds is due for €129 (US$ 140) in April.
