Google Photos may be the easiest way to store photos in the cloud, and this time of year it’s certainly something you should install on a parent’s computer. But, when playing, it’s never allowed users to zoom in on videos. In the latest update of Google Photos on Android, the ability to zoom in on videos seems to be finally in the works.
Google Photos v4.33 for Android, spotted and manually enabled by XDA, has the ability to zoom in on videos hidden behind the scenes. This simple feature is something I didn’t know the service was lacking personally. It looks like a pretty big mistake with that in mind now.

The functionality is currently not officially available in any public-faced Google Photos update. Using the new version of the app may still be a good idea if Google makes the zoom gesture at some point in the future via a server-side switch.
