Qualcomm is preparing to launch its next December flagship chipset. From December 3rd to December 5th, the semiconductor manufacturer has scheduled its annual Tech Summit in Maui where it will announce its new chipset, the Snapdragon 865.
While there is little knowledge about the latest addition to the Snapdragon 800 series, there are a few specifics about the forthcoming chipset that we might learn about.
It is supposed to be built on the 7 nm process of Samsung instead of TSMC, which hasn’t been done by the Korean giant since the Snapdragon 820 and Snapdragon 835 times. We plan to see two variants-a widely available LTE market model and an optional, more costly Snapdragon X55 5 G modem version.
Compared to the current Snapdragon 855, it is planned that the Snapdragon 865 will be available in two models. While the more inexpensive model will support LTE networks, an integrated X55 5 G modem will be included in the more expensive version of the chipset.
The forthcoming system-on-chip from Qualcomm will be stronger and more powerful than the chipsets from the Snapdragon 855 and SD855 +. Whether or not it can match Apple’s A13 Bionic chipset, however, remains to be seen, at least in terms of efficiency.
