Instagram has launched its first standalone chat app for Android and iOS today. The app is Threads for Instagram. It is just another chat app from Instagram from Facebook.
The concept of the app is pretty straight forward. All you have to do is log in with your Instagram ID, and then have access to only chats. The good thing about it is, you can only get messages from Close Friends on Instagram, not from any random stranger as we have in Messengers.
Let me give you a small tour of Threads for Instagram.
When you download the app, you are greeted with the login screen
After login to your account, you are asked to select your close friends.
Although I haven’t selected any since I rarely use Instagram to talk to people, you can add by tapping on the right side checkbox.
Next comes the customization of the camera. You can select the default camera here.
Next comes the Status. You have access to several status options in the app. Also, there is a feature called Auto Status, which sets automatically, depending on your locations, and what you are doing right now.
Also, you can set the Status on your own. After setting up the app, it greets you with a camera interface. Now tap on the Home Button on top center. It will lead to your chat screen, with all chats with your close friends in a single place. And if you tap on the profile picture, you can set the status on your own.
And if you have turned on the Auto Status, you will also see a permanent notification on the status bar in Android.
