After several months of delays, Samsung’s Galaxy Fold will officially go on sale in the United States later this week. The phone was originally set to launch for $2,000 on April 26, but it was postponed after early trials showed that it could break readily.
An AT&T model will be purchased in selected AT&T shops. And a version of “Unlocked by Samsung” accessible at select Best Buy shops and retail places in Samsung Experience Store, both of which will also be offering the AT&T model.
Back in July, Samsung said several modifications were made including adding strengthening to safeguard the screen against internal debris. To make it less likely customers will accidentally remove it, it expanded the top protective layer. And it strengthened the screen with protective caps on the edges that were exposed along the hinge.
The device features a 4.6-inch front display when folded, and a 7.3-inch display when unfolded. Samsung should work on a protective case for the device, especially with such a heavy price-tag.
