Google Duo started out as a video calling app. But just like Skype, Google has realized that a standalone video calling app is not what people need. That’s the reason it has started bringing more element to the app.
Version 56 of Google Duo brings in the ability to send single photos to your contacts. You also get to use the same tools when you’d sent a video message on Google Duo. This includes drawing and adding text with multiple colors and sizes available. An image can then be simultaneously sent to multiple Duo contacts.
People on the receiving end will get a notification telling them about a “new photo” and its sender. This photo is visible to the viewers for 24 hours after which it’ll disappear.
After opening a photo, there are shortcuts to “Call now” or “Reply” with a video.
