YouTube is one of the most popular apps used by people all over the world. Till date, YouTube had not introduced its premium models here in India which consisted of the Music Premium and YouTube Premium. YouTube on Tuesday, March 12 confirmed that the music streaming service will be finally available in India.
Youtube Music is an ad-supported version of YouTube’s streaming service which also has a paid alternative that will help remove the ads. The paid version of YouTube Music apart from removing ads also lets the user listen to tracks uninterruptedly and allows them to listen to songs in the background as well. It also gives them access to download songs from the platform which is a must-have in my opinion.
Lyor Cohen, Global Head of Music, YouTube, in a statement said that “India is where the multi-lingual music scene thrives. It’s interesting to note how Indian artists have consistently claimed top spots over the last few months in the Global YouTube Top Artists chart, with YouTube Music, we are hoping to bring the best in global and Indian music to millions of fans across India, and give them an immersive music experience, with the magic of music on YouTube.”
Pricing for the YouTube Music Premium in India is available at a monthly rental of Rs. 99. They also offer a family plan at Rs. 149/month wherein 6 members can access the platform simultaneously. Also, since its the debut of YouTube Music in India, the company is offering a three-month subscription of Music for free.
Apart from YouTube Music, the company also launched its YouTube Premium here in India which is available at Rs. 129/month, it does include the YouTube Music Premium Subscription along with some YouTube Originals. The company also says that paid subscribers of Google Play Music will also automatically get access to YouTube Music Premium and they don’t need to shell out extra cash. The app is available both on Android and iOS.
