The Asus Zenfone 5Z was launched a couple of months ago and has received quite a good response in the initial days of the launch. The Zenfone 5Z originally comes with Android 8.0 Oreo out of the box but an update to the latest version was promised.
Asus today confirmed that the Zenfone 5Z will start receiving Pie update by the end of January 2019. Although, the update has started rolling out in Taiwan for beta testing as well as public release.
The update brings with itself various features which enhances the camera performance as well as tweak around the device and fix some bugs.
The news was posted in the official ZenTalk forums. It stated that the Android Pie Update for the Zenfone 5Z (ZS620KL) has started rolling out in Taiwan. The update will be available to the users as an over-the-air update (OTA) in different phases. To check if you’ve received the update go to Settings>About>System Update.
Several Zenfone 5Z users from Taiwan have confirmed the existence of this update and have shared the same on Telegram with the changelog. The main highlight of the feature is the newly built camera experience and the package also comes with software version 18.104.22.168_20181222.
The Android 9.0 Update comes with the November 2018 Android Security Patch which weighs around 1.4GB and also comes pre-loaded with the new Dark theme which the community has been asking for ages and also the new navigation system along with gesture support which is a great add-on.
